New Zealand is a small island nation with a temperate climate. You are never more than a few hours away from the sea. Studying in New Zealand is a great way to see the country while you gain new knowledge and skills. Living and tuition costs compare well with other countries. Courses are available for academic, professional and vocational studies at universities, polytechnics, teachers’ colleges, secondary schools and private training establishments. There are also a number of private English language schools.

New Zealand has an international reputation as a provider of quality education. It has a progressive education system with many state of the art facilities. It offers a safe learning environment with excellent study opportunities and support services for international students. Courses are available for academic, professional and vocational studies at New Zealand institutions - universities, polytechnics and institutes of technology, colleges of education, secondary schools and private training establishments.

New Zealand produces top graduates who can take their place with confidence in the international arena in many disciplines. You will find a wide range of options when you consider New Zealand as a study destination.

Polytechnics and Institutes of Technology

A popular option is to study at one of the 25 government-funded polytechnics and institutes of technology. They offer a wide variety of programmes which can be both academically and vocationally focused. You may choose from a short course teaching a specific skill, or from a wide range of courses resulting in a certificate, a diploma or a degree.

Universities

There are eight government-funded universities providing undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Some also offer foundation programmes. Whilst all offer a broad range of degree subjects, each university has its own specialized courses.

The quality of a New Zealand university education is well recognized internationally. Many New Zealand graduates have gone on to achieve international recognition in their field. Many of the international students from developing Asian nations, who have studies at New Zealand universities, have since served as senior administrators, including cabinet ministers in their own countries.

Accommodation and Cost of Living

Some secondary schools offer boarding facilities, while others arrange home stays for international students. Usually universities and polytechnics offer student accommodation on campus. Some students prefer to live off campus and will seek advice from the student support services, provided by most tertiary institutes, to help with arranging home stays or give advice on finding student flats. It is generally recommended that international students allow NZ$9,000 to $10,000 per year for living and accommodation costs. This includes accommodation, food, travel, textbooks and limited entertainment.

Why student’s love UK ?

London is home to more than 97,000 international students from over 200 different nations.

UK colleges/universities see over 300,000 students a year walk through their doors, including 97,000 students from overseas. The schools are prepared to deal with this type of diversity, and all their students are provided with the educational opportunities they need to thrive and grow in a diverse environment.
London is the principal business center for Europe and provides unparalleled opportunities for experience and growth.
With unrestricted access to almost 375 million European Union consumers, it is not hard to see why so many business students are attracted to London:
•It's becoming the world's second financial capital
•Currently, more than 13,500 overseas companies from more than 90 countries are based in London
•The city is also home to more than 100 of Europe's 500 largest companies
There's much more to London than the royal family, Big Ben and high tea. The nightlife rivals some of the best nightlife in big U.S. cities, and there are more ideas on how to spend your time outside.
London is the best place in the world to be a student. It offers a wide range of courses to suit your needs, in a city of unlimited opportunities. As a student in London you will have access to unrivalled resources to support your study and your experience will be unequalled in opportunity, study and life. Whatever course you choose to study in London, you can be guaranteed that your qualification will be a solid foundation for building your future and boosting your career prospects while establishing a global network of friends and contacts. Many courses offer you an innovative blend of academic and career based study, preparing you with relevant skills for your chosen career.

London Life

Life outside the classroom is equally as stimulating with over 250 free events each year including the London Mela, the Thames Festival, China in London Season to celebrate Chinese New Year, Notting Hill Carnival, Russian Winter Festival and Eid on Trafalgar Square Festival to name just a few. In warm weather, the streets are filled with cafes, restaurants and bars while parks and green spaces, which make up 30% of London’s area, are popular with people playing sport and relaxing.
With a student card you can get thousands of discounts all over London – in cinemas, theatres and restaurants. You can save 30% off the price of travel on the Underground and buses when you buy a student photocard. London is also the hub for international travel with daily direct flights around the world from its five airports and direct train links to mainland Europe via Eurostar allowing you to access the 35,000 discounts in 116 countries that the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) offers.

Master's Courses

These are sometimes placed in a further hierarchy, starting with degrees such as the Master of Arts and Master of Science, then Master of Philosophy, and finally Master of Letters (all formerly known in France as DEA or DESS before 2005, and nowadays Masters too). In many fields such as clinical social work, or library science in North America, a Master's is the terminal degree. In the UK, Master's degrees may be taught or by research: taught Master's include the MSc and MA degrees.

Undergraduate Courses

The course duration for undergraduate degree courses in UK is 3-4 years. The course duration for undergraduate medicine or clinical courses here is 5-6 years. In a case a student needs to complete a foundation course for any bachelor degree program in UK then the entire course duration extends by a year. Foundation programs and extended degrees courses are designed for students who do not have the formal qualifications to pursue an undergraduate program in UK, but have an intense determination to shine. The course duration for foundation courses ranges from 4 months to 1 year.

International Students

The United Kingdom offers international students several bright avenues for higher education. The excellent options for postgraduate and undergraduate programs in UK welcome thousands of international students each year. The degrees and qualifications from UK higher education institutions are known around the world as high quality and world class. The standard of excellence is set by some of the older universities with recognizable names, like Oxford and Cambridge, but the tradition carries through to many of the universities and colleges throughout the UK. When looking for work in the future

Work Opportunities

An international student in the UK is typically allowed to work up to 20 hours a week during school term, and up to full-time when school is out of term. Of course, you should always check with your international advisor at your school before starting any work - you do not want to be in violation of your visa, and rules change all the time. Also, it is not always easy to find a job, so relying on work income to fund your education is not a good idea. Unless you have employment set up through your school before you arrive, you should plan to fund the entire first year of your studies without any employment income.

The USA education system has provided top notch resources and quality education for a variety of programs that students and professionals can pursue for that extra edge. The USA has the highest number of educational colleges / universities providing higher education than any other country.
The USA colleges / universities offers a plethora of choices not only in terms of types of courses available for almost every career path but also in terms of flexibility. There are more than 3,200 colleges and universities in the United States. A college is usually for undergraduates, whereas a university is a collection of one or more colleges, plus a graduate school and various professional schools. Colleges mainly teach but universities, with their large numbers of graduate students, also place emphasis on research.

Bachelor’s Degree

Bachelor’s degrees in the US are highly flexible, where students can choose from a wide range of courses.
• Four-year degree in a specific subject at a college or university.
• As part of the admissions process most universities evaluate students’ SAT or ACT scores, among other criteria.
• Generally a Bachelor’s is divided into two phases; the first focuses on the foundation course, which can be in several core subjects such as mathematics, English, humanities, physical sciences and social sciences. The second concentrates one the student’s chosen subject, otherwise known as a major.
• Types of Bachelor’s degrees: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) and more.
• The degree awarded after a certain number of credits (one course is usually three or four credits) and major requirements are completed.

Colleges and universities in the US can be either state or public; state colleges are subsidized by the government, whereas private colleges are funded privately and tend to be smaller. The difference between colleges and universities is usually that colleges tend to be smaller and offer only undergraduate degrees, while universities also offer graduate degrees.

Prepare for university and college entry with the right score on your TOEFL test. For direct access onto one of many bachelor degrees at University. With lower admission requirements, earning credits and a conditional letter of acceptance this program give you the guarantees you might be looking for.

Graduate study in the USA

Students who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree may continue their education through a Master’s degree or Doctorate degree also known, as a PhD. Graduate programs in the US are more specialized and intense than undergraduate programs, and they assume that students know the basic elements in their field of study.

Master’s Degree

In a Master’s programs, which may be either academic or professional, students gain additional knowledge and training in a specific subject. Master’s programs are available in a wide variety of fields.

• A Master’s Degree is typically two-year program in a specific field.
• Academic Master’s include: Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MS).
• Professional Master’s include: Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Education (MeD), Master of Social Work (MSW) and more.
• As part of the admissions process, most graduate programs evaluate students’ Graduate Record Examination GRE scores, among other criteria.
• As part of the admissions process, MBA programs assess students’ Graduate Management Admissions Test GMAT scores, among other criteria.

Degrees in law and medicine are only offered at the graduate level in the US, and students must first complete a Bachelor’s degree before applying to a program.

International students

International students must complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) before applying to US colleges and universities. This four-hour test allows admissions committees to evaluate the student’s ability to use and understand Standard America English at a college level. The TOEFL is administered worldwide and is available in an internet-based format with four sections: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. Most colleges and universities only consider the most recent score, and the TOEFL score is valid for two years.

Many students in India have a dream to complete their higher studies abroad, and they work hard day and night in order to get highest marks in their academic institution to ensure they will get admission in one of the best Universities/Colleges in Canada, USA etc. Nowadays, Canada tops the rank when a student thinks about foreign education. In my view, the main thing is the guidance. I.e. if a student gets excellent guidance regarding his/her future aspirations and field of study, he/she is in a better position to get the universities/colleges of their choice.

India is emerging as a major source of students heading towards Canada or USA to pursue their foreign education. It also makes India a potential hub for quality students. Here, foreign education consultants are in the business of offering expert guidance to students seeking admission in foreign universities and colleges. These education consultants have expertise in the procedure of submitting application to various universities and colleges.

It is true that students in India choose education as a means to fulfill career, family responsibilities and future goals, and a foreign education consultant is committed to partner with them to help make the right choices to achieve their goals. A consultant not only acts as a mediator between a student and the university, but also promotes culture, language and various customs of universities for the student. They treat every student special and provide required consultation services.

The quality of education in foreign universities and college is of at par excellence. The student also enjoys their new family which belongs to different background, culture and tradition. A foreign education consultant helps students in selecting the right kind of universities for application depending upon their academic excellence and field of study. Education consultants in India not only helps to study overseas but also in providing the estimates in cost of living and other related expenses.

One of the best things that have happened in modern times is there are plenty of courses available which can actually lead one to a very promising career. Indeed, modern times are good in terms that there are plenty of jobs available and the course of unemployment is on a rapid decline. There are some negative as well as positive points regarding a study abroad program.

Overseas educational consultants are very well trained in taking care of all application procedure aches. We ensure that the students are applying to the educational institution that best fits their profile and that the application is complete by our personalized services student VISA counseling.

DHRRON CONSULTANCY has become Baroda’s leading Educational Consultant within a short span of time. Established since 2003, the organization is recognized by various overseas educational Universities, Colleges and a large number of students who have been successfully placed in different institutions at Universities all over the globe.

Here few important information about Otago Polytechnic.

Old gold, new gold - Otago is a place where people become pioneers.

A land defined by distance becomes home to those with vision, resourcefulness and enterprise; a micro-culture of capable, inventive people. Those who have called Otago home have mined wealth in the soil and seas, built sound businesses and educated men and women who have gone on to change the world.
New Zealand's first School of Art was founded in Dunedin in 1870. The country’s first technical college was established here in 1889. From these roots Otago Polytechnic was born; a school of technology pioneering practical education in fields such as engineering and adventure, building and design, commerce and computing, hospitality, horticulture and health.

We count among our achievements the world’s first three-year bachelor’s degree in midwifery, the first tertiary training restaurant open to the public, the only stonemasonry programme of its kind in Australasia.
In the 21st century, Otago Polytechnic stands proudly alongside the University of Otago as an integral part of the region’s educational and intellectual capital. But more than this, we strive to understand the way the world is turning and the skills required to succeed in the future.
We are in the process of developing the most advanced Rapid Prototyping Facility in Australasia to provide our product design students with invaluable experience and the opportunity to undertake collaborative projects with industry. We have made a commitment to develop the Polytechnic as a sustainable organisation and provide leadership in sustainable education and training into the future. We continue to develop and foster our relationships with industry so that our students can see, understand and learn to address the challenges they will face as professionals in the real world.
The best measure of our success is our graduates; our goal is to send them into the workplace armed with practical skills, the ability to generate original thoughts and ideas, and the capacity to adapt to the ever-changing work environment.
We prepare them to go forward by providing the sort of stimulating, questioning and creative learning environment that builds confidence to succeed in the workplace. We seek out energetic lecturers who succeed in their own right, share their enthusiasm for learning with others and teach methodologies that lie at the cutting edge of industry.
Our ability to consistently produce skilled, capable, visionary graduates reflects our proud history of education delivery and the personalised learning environment that comes from our size and focus on fresh-thinking.

The International Student Services: Here to Help You.

1.Advising students on the best course of study.
2.Assessing student applications and, if applicable, providing a student with an ‘offer of place’ in their chosen programme.
3.Providing advice on all accommodation options and organising either home-stay or Residence Hall placements.
4.Providing options for payment of tuition and other fees.
5.Assisting with Student Visa and Permit renewals.
6.Offering social opportunities for international students to meet each other and make friends.
7.Ensuring a staff member is available for emergency contact 24 hours a day.
8.International Students are well looked after in New Zealand, as Otago Polytechnic has agreed to observe and to be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, published by New Zealand’s Ministry of Education.

The Academic Year

There are two main semesters which begin in February and July of each year. Most programmes start in the February semester, but there is a small intake into some programmes in July.

Entry Requirements

All academic programmes have individual entry criteria. If you already have tertiary qualifications you may be able to apply for cross-crediting. Alternatively, Otago Polytechnic's Foundation Learning Studies programme may be able to help you gain the academic credits required for entry into many of our degree programmes.

English Language Entry Requirements
To study at Otago Polytechnic most programmes require a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or 6.0 or equivalent. More details on exceptions to this and on individual score requirements are provided in each programme's entry requirements.

Medical and Travel Insurance
The New Zealand Ministry of Education, through the Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students, requires that all international students are to have medical and travel insurance for the duration of their programme of study in New Zealand.
Students can choose their own insurance company, but it must comply with minimum standards required by the Code of Practice. If you arrange your own insurance cover, you must supply your certificate of insurance and the schedule of cover, in English, to the International Admissions Coordinator, preferably before you leave home. Enrolment cannot be completed until this is provided.
Otago Polytechnic has a default insurance provider, Uni-Care. Their package is called NZ Student Plan. Health and travel insurance can be arranged for you by Otago Polytechnic.

Supervised accommodation

Supervised accommodation is a great option, especially for first year students. You are guaranteed to meet heaps of new people, you’ll probably get two or three square meals a day and you won’t have to worry about extra expenses like power and phone rental.
City College located in North Dunedin, in the heart of the student area. You will live in apartment-style accommodation with ‘flatmates’ and dine in a communal eating area. City College has excellent recreation facilities and study facilities.

Tuition Fees :
All programme/course fees on this website are quoted in New Zealand dollars, include GST and any applicable New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) fees and Otago Polytechnic Students Association (OPSA) fees.
